About The Position

ECL has just changed the GAME with the introduction of the world’s first Hydrogen powered off grid green data center with 99.999% uptime. There is massive demand for high-end Data Centers that can meet the demands that come with AI and Machine Learning requirements. What was only a futuristic idea that most thought was 10-20 years out is NOW a reality. Our end-to-end construction platform, modular architecture, is repeatable from 1-2MW’s meeting the needs of even larger data center sites. Imagine the opportunity at hand to build and deliver a Completely Green Power Generation System in this new era of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence disruptive technology advancements. How would you like to be on the ground floor of such a technological revolution. This is your chance to become part of something special as we are poised for hyper growth. ECL was founded by data center veterans from companies including Facebook, Microsoft, LinkedIn, Cisco, HPE and Bloom Energy. About the Role We are looking for a hands-on technical operator to serve as the first line of defense for our data center availability. In this role, you will be responsible for the physical installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of server hardware and network infrastructure. You will act as the "Remote Hands" for our global engineering teams, ensuring that our massive fleet of servers remains online, secure, and organized.

Requirements

  • Education: Associate’s degree in IT/Networking, Trade School certification, or equivalent military/work experience.
  • Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience in a data center, server room, or computer repair environment.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Ability to identify computer components (CPU, RAM, HDD/SSD, NIC) and understand their function.
  • Basic knowledge of Linux command line (booting to PXE, checking IP addresses).
  • Familiarity with TIA/EIA cabling standards.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg) safely.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, and work on ladders for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • CompTIA A+, Server+, or Network+ certifications.
  • Experience working with fiber optic fusion splicers.
  • Previous experience in a Hyperscale or Colocation environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a server lift.
  • Cultural Fit
  • Detail-Oriented: You obsess over cable management (Velcro, not zip ties!) and proper labeling.
  • Calm Under Pressure: You can troubleshoot a critical server outage without panicking.
  • Team Player: You are willing to cover shifts and support the team during high-volume deployment crunches.

Responsibilities

  • Hardware Lifecycle Management:
  • Deployments: Execute "Rack and Stack" operations, installing servers, switches, and storage units into racks according to elevation diagrams.
  • Break/Fix: Diagnose and repair hardware failures (replacing DIMMs, motherboards, drive backplanes, and power supply units) within strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Decommissioning: Securely wipe and physically remove retired hardware, ensuring proper asset tracking and recycling protocols.
  • Structured Cabling & Connectivity:
  • Install, test, and label copper (CAT6) and fiber optic cabling (OM4/OS2) from the Top of Rack (ToR) to the patch panel.
  • Perform fiber cleaning and inspection to ensure zero light loss.
  • Troubleshoot physical layer network issues using Fluke testers or VFL (Visual Fault Locators).
  • Facility Monitoring & Incident Response:
  • Perform daily "floor walks" to inspect visual indicators on servers and facility equipment (CRAC units, PDUs, UPS panels).
  • Serve as the primary responder for data center alarms, escalating thermal or power anomalies to the Facilities Engineering team.
  • Manage ticketing queues (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow) to document all physical work and asset movements.
  • Safety & Security:
  • Adhere to strict physical security protocols (escorting vendors, managing access logs).
  • Maintain a pristine data center environment, ensuring no combustible materials (cardboard/wood) are left on the production floor.
