About The Position

The Data Center Manager at Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Data Center Services (DCS) team. This role involves managing staff, establishing goals, developing budgets, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. The manager will also collaborate with internal and external service providers to meet the operational needs of the agency, while providing technical expertise and guidance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related field.
  • Seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in the IT field.
  • Five years of experience with Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
  • Experience analyzing processes and adherence to processes and creating reports.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of ITIL Foundations.
  • Experience with project management theories and practices.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to DCS systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day activities of staff in a business function(s), division(s), or department(s).
  • Establish goals and objectives; develop and approve schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals.
  • Confer with executive management to develop strategic plans and long and short-term goals for the department.
  • Develop and implement techniques for evaluating business function, division, or department activities.
  • Plan and develop a budget, evaluate budget requests, monitor budget expenditures, and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate policies and procedures, and monitor compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Prepare management and productivity reports; review and approve documents and reports developed by employees.
  • Identify areas of needed change and make recommendations to improve operations.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance regarding questions related to the business function, division, or department.
  • Oversee the implementation of changes resulting from new legislation.
  • Oversee special investigations, program analyses, research studies, and internal audits.
