One of TEKsystems clients is looking for multiple qualified candidates to support their IT department's Datacenter Technician team. This is a great opportunity for someone to get their foot in the door with a local enterprise company. Please apply if you're interested in hearing more about the opportunity We are looking to set up interviews as early as this week Job Description: • Prepares, stages, sets up, and performs startups and shutdowns (e.g., racks, hard drives, switches) according to specific instructions, checklists, guides, standard protocols, and emails. • Performs post-execution quality checks and verifies that grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling are set up properly according to safety protocols, deployment standards, and planned Network Design Tasks (NDTs). • Performs diagnostics and troubleshooting following standard procedures, quickly identifies the cause(s) of issues, and replaces faulty components • Decommissions IT hardware for simple changes and refreshes (e.g., memory upgrades, OS rebuilds) following standard procedures with minimal guidance • Follows procedures to communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate Datacenter Technician Leads • Required: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent • Required: Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components. • Required: Basic understanding of how to use Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word) • Required: Flexibility to work non-standard business hours that may include weekends and/or holidays. • Previous datacenter experience a plus o Move servers and switches to required destinations for installation. o Inspect servers and switches to ensure they are not damaged. o Install servers and switches and cable them according to provided wire maps. o Ensure all cables are bundled neatly and in accordance with standards. o Double-check with network admins to ensure everything is cabled correctly and all connections are up. o Install additional components needed (NIC, Drive, Memory). o Assist in unboxing and prepping servers as needed. o Audit servers and consumables. o Troubleshoot a variety of servers and isolate the problem that the server is encountering. o Order replacement parts and install them in servers and ship back the defective part to their respective vendors. o Update firmware on servers to ensure the latest version is installed. o Configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers. o Assist network admins on any issues they are having with a server, including replacing broken or damaged cables, re-routing cables to different ports on the server or switch, replacing optics on both server and switch ports, changing out parts, and installing upgraded versions of those parts in servers. o Temporarily rack and stack a server or switch in a cabinet and cable it so the network admin can remotely log in and run configurations on the device. o Assist network admins who reach out requesting specific assistance with servers or switches. o Deploy and configure GPUs in servers, ensuring proper installation and functionality.
