As a Data Center Inventory & Asset Technician (DIAT) at Microsoft, you will play a crucial role in managing inventory and asset logistics within the data center environment. This position involves performing cycle audits, handling incoming and outgoing deliveries, coordinating security for third-party vendors, and documenting all transactions as per management instructions. You will also engage in warranty claims and process returns for failed equipment, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of Microsoft's cloud operations.

  • Perform cycle audits and data corrections to ensure inventory controls are met.
  • Execute incoming and outgoing deliveries as instructed by management.
  • Document inbound and outbound packages accurately.
  • Coordinate security escorts for third-party vendors.
  • Engage in Task Hazard Analysis (THA) for every task performed.
  • Maintain focus on customer service and understand the impact of work on stakeholders.
  • Develop working knowledge of stock control and inventory management practices.
  • Initiate warranty claims and process returns for failed equipment.
  • Perform destruction of data bearing devices (DBD) following Microsoft policies.
  • Notify management about stock shortages and escalate issues as necessary.
  • High School Diploma AND 6 months experience or an internship in inventory management, retail, warehouse management, or a related field OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  • 1+ year(s) experience in warehouse/supply chain in an IT environment or logistics.
  • Experience operating heavy-load movement equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jacks).
