About The Position

As a Data Center Facility Manager at AWS, you will oversee all aspects of the data center’s critical physical infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance while maintaining service level agreements. You will manage on-site teams of 24x7 shift technicians, sub-contractors, and vendors, driving a culture of safety and compliance. Your role will involve hiring, coaching, and promoting team members, managing the operations budget, and engaging in improvement projects. You will act as an escalation point for facilities-related issues and oversee the operation and management of critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, and more. This position requires a willingness to work in various physical conditions and may support multiple locations.

Requirements

• High school or equivalent diploma.
• 4+ years in a management position with 5 or more direct reports.
• 5+ years of relevant work experience in a data center or other mission-critical environment.
• Knowledge in UPS, Generators, HVAC, Evaporators, and other critical infrastructure.

Nice To Haves

• Advanced electrical or mechanical certifications.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline.
• 7+ years working in a data center or other mission-critical environment.
• Excellent understanding of electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, technical writing or business justifications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the data center’s critical physical infrastructure.
• Maintain high availability and performance while ensuring quality work without impact to customers.
• Manage on-site teams of 24x7 shift technicians, sub-contractors, and vendors.
• Drive safety and security culture and compliance within the team.
• Hire, coach, and promote team members; responsible for career development and performance management.
• Promote healthy team culture and peak morale.
• Manage the operations budget and expenditures effectively.
• Engage in improvement projects and drive them from conception to completion.
• Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues.
• Oversee operation and management of routine and emergency services on critical systems.
• Utilize root cause analysis and troubleshooting/problem solving skills.
• Respond to out-of-hours emergency calls.
• Assist in the build-out of new facilities and projects to increase efficiency.
• Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and other administrative tools.
