About The Position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our Data Center Engineering Operations Team. This dedicated group works to maintain the critical physical infrastructure that supports Amazon Web Services. Specifically, this team ensures that the data center's Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems operate at 100% availability while providing first-class customer service to the teams and groups within the data centers. The DCEO Water Operations Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring AWS effectively enhances our water utilization efficiency (WUE), staying compliant with the regulations and permit requirements of the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ), local government municipalities, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). They will be Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in water-related equipment and oversee Preventative Maintenance and maintenance schedules for all in-house and vendor-led work, as well as manage spare parts. They will engage in vendor coordination for troubleshooting and repair of equipment. A day in the life of a water infrastructure technician typically involves a range of tasks related to the operation, maintenance, and repair of water supply and treatment systems. Water infrastructure technicians begin their day by reporting to work and attending briefings. They inspect and monitor various components of the water system, including pipes, valves, pumps, and filters, taking readings and collecting samples. Based on their inspections, they perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning filters and replacing worn-out parts, as well as repairing malfunctioning components. In water treatment plants, they operate treatment processes like chemical dosing and filtration, monitoring and adjusting parameters. Throughout the day, they document activities, record data, and prepare reports. In emergencies, they respond promptly to mitigate situations and restore operations. You will work with a team of three highly trained and capable Chief Engineers with over 20 years of combined experience in AWS. Each individual oversees a specific area, however team collaboration and support is crucial to the success of the overall team and AWS. AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running.
