The Data Center Engineering Operations Technician at Amazon plays a crucial role in maintaining and operating critical infrastructure systems within AWS data centers. This position involves hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and ensuring the reliability and availability of data center operations. Technicians will work closely with a diverse team to implement new technologies and practices, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the data center environment.

  • Conduct daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment.
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS).
  • Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • Perform rack installs and rack decommissioning within internal SLA.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Engage in technical writing to support the change management program.
  • Monitor daily work requests and manage to resolution, executing projects from conception to completion.
  • Provide on-site support of contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with established practices and local legislation.
  • High school or equivalent diploma.
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or 1+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience in a mission-critical infrastructure or equivalent experience in a relevant industry.
  • 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products (including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • 2+ years of data center engineering experience.
