About The Position

Overview GBSI is seeking an Information Technology (IT) professional for the role of Data Center Engineer - Infrastructure/Cloud in Landover, MD. The Data Center Engineer-Infrastructure/Cloud will be responsible to review current infrastructures, architectures, designs, and operations to indentify potential improvements.

Requirements

LEVEL III : Bachelor's degree in a related field, with five (5) to eight (8) years’ experience is required; OR Masters degree in a related field with three (3) to five (5) years’ experience years of experience; OR PhD with zero (0) to two (2) years’ experience
LEVEL IV : Bachelor's degree in a related field, with (8) to ten (10) years’ experience is required; OR Masters degree in a related field with six (6) to eight (8) years’ experience years of experience; OR PhD with three (3) to five (5) years’ experience
Must have a current DoD 8570.1-M IAT Level III (i.e., CISSP GCIH,or GCIA) certification is required at start
Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with SCI eligibility at start
Experience in Infrastructure/Datacenter engineering and integration for both physical and virtual infrastructure hosting one or more Operating Systems: Windows, Linux, Solaris, UNIX, and/or AIX systems is required
Experience in VMware vCloud Enterprise Suite and hybrid cloud with multiple classified Government clouds is required

Nice To Haves

Professional-level Linux, VMware, Network, Storage, or Cloud certification is desired
ITILv4 Foundations certification is desired

Responsibilities

Designs, delivers, and optimizes Virtual Infrastructure Services to improve security, availability, performance, and resource utilization
Reviews current virtual infrastructures, architectures, designs, and operations to identify potential improvements
Analyzes, refines, and documents the requirements for transition from legacy architectures into modern virtualized infrastructure environment
Designs and builds host & tenant environment with security hardened configuration for infrastructure services and designs ongoing maintenance practices and procedures for infrastructure hosted service patching and updates
Designs virtual Infrastructure services to maximize available capacity of physical compute, storage, and network hardware resources
Documents security, configuration, and performance benchmarks of Infrastructure Services
Designs production infrastructure services that support highly available, private cloud, active-active data center operations, within the constraints of the environment
Designs practices, procedures, Automation and Orchestration to provision, de-provision, and entitles Computer, Storage, and Network resources Identify infrastructure security-relevant actions, tests, and key performance indicators for Information Dashboard and Reporting
Designs Service Catalog Items for Infrastructure Services for business and IT technical services
Provides advanced technical support in the research, experimentation, business analysis and use of systems technology including architecture, integration capabilities and database management
Develops the end-to-end vision and the logical design that translates into physical databases, and how the data will flow through the successive stages involved
Knowledgeable and practices a wider range of data administration skills, often in a Business Process Re-engineering context
Participates in strategic data planning, including development and implementation of DA policies, standards, and procedures
Understands data from the perspective of data processing and in the context of different life-cycle phases
Activities may include data quality engineering, metadata consolidation and integration, metamodel development and maintenance, repository management, data warehouse design and data mining, data security administration, and formulation of enterprise-specific data metrics.
