About The Position

US Signal is a leading data center services provider, offering secure, reliable network, cloud hosting, colocation, data protection, and disaster recovery services — all powered by its expansive, robust fiber network. US Signal also helps customers optimize their IT resources through the provision of managed services and professional services. We are looking to have a Data Center Engineer join our team at our Englewood, CO data center location just outside of Denver, CO. This is an onsite role that will be Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and may require variable shift coverage if needed to assist the team. The Data Center Engineer plays a key role in ensuring the continuous operation, maintenance, and optimization of mission-critical infrastructure. As a hands-on technical expert, this role leads by example in driving 100% uptime across electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems through proactive maintenance, incident response, and project execution. The data center engineer serves as a subject matter expert (SME), collaborating with internal teams and vendors to uphold safety and performance standards, while also supporting the development of team capabilities through training and knowledge sharing. Though not a direct people manager, this role is instrumental in guiding day-to-day operations and fostering a culture of operational excellence.

Requirements

  • 4+ Years Experience working in data centers and/or experience with data center infrastructure to include electrical, HVAC, fire suppression, and security systems.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain critical systems: Ensure continuous uptime and safe performance of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and fire/life safety systems through routine monitoring and maintenance.
  • Lead incident response and troubleshooting: Act as the primary escalation point for facility issues, coordinating rapid resolution to minimize downtime and service impact.
  • Support infrastructure projects and upgrades: Assist with planning and execution of system deployments, expansions, and upgrades, ensuring alignment with operational goals.
  • Manage vendor relationships: Coordinate preventive maintenance, testing, and repairs with third-party vendors, ensuring quality, safety, and contract compliance.
  • Train and mentor technical staff: Provide guidance and training to data center technicians to promote consistent operations and professional growth.
  • Maintain documentation and compliance: Develop and update SOPs, equipment records, and performance reports to support audits and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Respond to emergencies and off-hours events: Participate in after-hours support and emergency response to restore operations quickly and safely.
