The Data Center Electrical Engineer at Google is responsible for the design, construction, and operational processes of data center electrical systems. This role involves ensuring compliance with codes and standards, optimizing efficiencies, and driving infrastructure improvements. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to streamline construction processes and enhance operational quality, ultimately contributing to the successful delivery of data center projects.

  • Participate in project specific design review process at 30%, 60%, and 95% releases with focus on constructability, Google standards, and value engineering.
  • Support construction teams and contractors in execution of work with quality, speed, commissioning, issue mitigation, and adherence to Google standards.
  • Support Data Center Operations as the primary internal customer throughout construction and post-occupancy as the system subject matter expert (SME).
  • Develop a detailed understanding of trade contractor project delivery strategies, planning, zoning, work sequences/packaging, etc. to optimize and align to program requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in mission critical facility design and construction environments.
  • Experience in mission critical facilities and their electrical infrastructure.
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Business or other relevant field or a professional engineering license or a Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Experience in estimating, electrical design, operation, and commissioning of substations, switchgear, ATP/ATS, emergency power systems and their control systems, power monitoring, and electrical protection.
  • Experience in design, construction, and commissioning of high voltage substations, medium or low voltage electrical distribution systems, AC/DC systems, and associated power management or SCADA tools.
  • Experience working with data center equipment and environments (e.g., switchgear, generators, transformers, controls, security monitoring systems, fire safety systems).
  • Base salary range of $117,000-$172,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
