About The Position

The Data Catalog Specialist is responsible for managing and organizing the organization's data catalog, ensuring that data is properly classified, accessible, and compliant. This role supports data discovery, governance, and collaboration across teams to optimize data use, facilitating effective decision-making and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Must hold a CompTIA Security+ certification (DoD 8570 IAT II).
• 2 to 4+ years of Data Catalog experience.
• Active Secret clearance with the ability to upgrade to TS/SCI.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Agile methodologies.
• Additional certifications such as MCSE Data Platform or Business Intelligence, ICCP CDMP, or similar certifications.
• In-depth knowledge of Military Organizational and Rank Structure.

Responsibilities

• Leverage data mining techniques to identify, catalog, and enrich systems, tables, and data elements with relevant metadata.
• Validate and populate the catalog with comprehensive metadata including data descriptions, ownership, use cases, data quality, and lineage.
• Oversee data quality, accessibility, and security to support operational efficiency.
• Facilitate change control and problem management by collaborating with data architects, developers, analysts, and engineers.
• Establish and enforce processes to ensure the data catalog is consistent and well-managed.
• Perform data ELT/ETL functions to support migration to the cloud.
