Join us to be part of a transformative journey that can shape the industry's future. The Data Architecture Manager plays a critical role in defining and documenting the flow of data across the enterprise. This role is focused on identifying authoritative data sources, establishing data lineage, and documenting end-to-end data flows - from source systems where data originates to the final systems where it is consumed for reporting, analytics, or decision-making. Working under the direction of the Director, Data Architect, the Manager will collaborate closely with business and application teams to ensure that data assets are well understood, traceable, and trustworthy. This individual will also support the development of enterprise data models and assist in managing a burst capacity of contractors, with potential for leading full-time staff as the team matures. This position offers a Hybrid work schedule from one of our offices in either San Diego CA, El Segundo CA or Dallas TX.

  • Lead efforts to identify and document authoritative sources for critical data domains in collaboration with application owners and data stewards.
  • Develop and maintain data lineage and data flow diagrams to support traceability, regulatory needs, and analytical trust.
  • Partner with application and engineering teams to understand data movement, transformations, and downstream consumption patterns.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Architect to contribute to enterprise data model development by applying sound data modeling principles and techniques.
  • Maintain a catalog of data domains, flows, and source-to-target mappings using enterprise metadata and governance tools.
  • Provide direction and oversight to contractors engaged in lineage and source identification projects; ensure work is documented, reviewed, and aligned to standards.
  • Support the evaluation and maintenance of tooling required for lineage, metadata management, and architecture visualization.
  • Contribute to the design and promotion of standards, guidelines, and best practices for data architecture documentation.
  • Assist in creating fit-for-purpose documentation artifacts to enable data governance, compliance, and business understanding.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and interdependencies regularly with the Principal Architect and stakeholders.
  • Stay current on emerging trends in data architecture, lineage, and metadata tooling.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or related field-or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in data architecture, data analysis, or data engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership or project lead role.
  • Strong understanding of data lineage and data flow documentation practices and tools.
  • Familiarity with authoritative source identification and golden record management practices.
  • Working knowledge of data modeling concepts (e.g., 3NF, dimensional modeling).
  • Experience with metadata management or governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica EDC).
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with technical teams (data engineers, app developers) and business users.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, including producing diagrams and system maps.
  • Experience leading or overseeing contractors or project-based staff.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under the guidance of senior architecture leadership.
  • Experience in financial services or other regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms (Azure, Snowflake, Databricks).
  • Exposure to enterprise data modeling tools (e.g., Erwin, PowerDesigner, Sparx EA).
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Experience with Agile or iterative delivery models.
  • Competitive performance-based bonus.
