Stearns Bank is seeking a Data Architecture & Insights Lead to own the design, build, and evolution of the enterprise data platform and to unlock business value from data beyond traditional reporting. This role is responsible for the end-to-end data architecture and data flows across the organization, leveraging Snowflake, Fivetran, dbt, and Power BI, while also serving as the lead for data analysis, insight generation, and decision enablement. The role will move the organization from reporting what happened to understanding why it happened and what actions to take. This is a senior, hands-on role that combines technical architecture, analytics engineering, and business-facing insights within a regulated financial services environment.

Requirements

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.
  • Literacy in English.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time, twist, bend, sit, walk use hands to twist, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, such as computer mouse, computer keyboard, calculator, stapler, telephone, staple puller, etc., reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, talk, or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • 8+ years in data architecture, engineering, or analytics.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Fivetran, dbt, SQL, and Power BI.
  • Experience building data warehouses from scratch.
  • Financial services industry experience.
  • Snowflake SnowPro Core Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300) certification or equivalent experience

  • Alteryx experience preferred.
  • Dbt Analytics Engineering Certification
  • Snowflake SnowPro Advanced (Architect or Data Engineer)
  • Alteryx Designer Core Certification
  • Cloud data engineering certification (Azure DP-203, AWS equivalent)
  • Data governance or data management certification (e.g., DAMA-CDMP)

Responsibilities

  • Own the enterprise data platform architecture, including source-to-target data flows, integration patterns, and analytical models.
  • Design, build, and manage the Snowflake-based enterprise data repository.
  • Define and enforce data architecture standards and best practices.
  • Maintain current and future-state data architecture documentation.
  • Lead ingestion of enterprise data using Fivetran.
  • Design and maintain dbt transformation layers.
  • Ensure data quality, lineage, validation, and consistency.
  • Optimize pipelines for performance and scalability.
  • Analyze enterprise data to identify trends, drivers, risks, and opportunities.
  • Develop analytical models that support decision-making.
  • Partner with business leaders to define decision-oriented KPIs.
  • Support scenario and trend analysis.
  • Design Power BI dashboards and executive scorecards.
  • Enable self-service analytics with governance.
  • Implement data governance, stewardship, and documentation.
  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Information Security.
  • Enforce role-based access and auditability.
  • Prepare datasets for advanced analytics and AI use cases.
  • Act as the enterprise data authority.
  • Translate data into actionable insights.
  • Mentor team members.
