Role Overview: The Data Architect plays a pivotal role in designing and implementing best-in-class data management solutions for metadata, master data, and data quality management. This role will enable advanced data analytics capabilities across the organization, driving actionable insights and enhancing member experiences. This position has an on-site requirement with the option for hybrid work flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the high-level data strategy, system design, and architecture for the Credit Union's data ecosystem.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for Microsoft SQL Server and Azure Data Platform, leading data-related initiatives.
  • Design, develop, test, and implement solutions for metadata, master data, and data quality management using SQL, C#, Power BI, Azure Data Factory, and related tools.
  • Lead data architecture review sessions for acquisition and integration projects, offering recommendations to stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Conduct complex data analysis across multiple platforms using SQL, Excel, and Power BI to provide business insights.
  • Oversee the Data Governance program, ensuring data infrastructure optimization, compliance, and security best practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including senior management, to align data architecture with business objectives.
  • Manage and mentor a team of Data Engineers and Analysts, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, policies, and risk management requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement in data architecture and analytics capabilities.
  • Support data-driven decision-making by providing actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7+ years in data architecture, preferably in the Financial Services industry or a comparable field.
  • Proven experience implementing enterprise data architecture models, data governance frameworks, and system integration solutions.
  • Hands-on experience delivering metadata management, master data management, and data quality solutions in complex organizations.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL Server and Azure data services, including Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, Event Hub, Data Factory, Data Lake, Logic Apps, and Synapse.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in data warehouse implementation and automated ETL/ELT development across multiple source systems.
  • Hands-on experience with version control systems and CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Power BI and advanced SQL.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Snowflake, Microsoft Purview, or SQL Server Master Data Services.
  • Understanding of agile development methodologies, including SCRUM and DevOps practices.
  • Background in project management or a strong grasp of project lifecycle management.
