Guidehouse is seeking an experienced Data Architect to join our Technology / AI and Data practice. This individual will have a strong data architecture background and be a hands-on technical leader, responsible for architecting and delivering modern solutions on cloud-native data platforms. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives at the intersection of data architecture, cloud platforms, and public sector modernization. As a member of our Agile team, the Data Architect will collaborate with cross-functional teams and client stakeholders to modernize legacy environments, implement scalable data pipelines, and support advanced analytics initiatives for our federal client.

  • Architect and implement scalable data pipelines and models using AWS data services.
  • Ensure compliance with federal data governance, security, and performance standards.
  • Design and document enterprise data models, metadata strategies, and data lineage frameworks.
  • Lead the development of data architecture diagrams, including ERDs, and ensure proper data governance is in-place.
  • Optimize data architectures for performance with large data sets for both analytics and transactional load use cases (e.g., OLAP, OLTP). Enable downstream BI via clean data.
  • Ensuring architectural support for performance-sensitive canned and ad-hoc queries.
  • Work with both relational and noSQL (unstructured, semi-structured) data sets, and the cloud services for managing them (AWS RDS, MongoDB, etc.).
  • Design and incorporate a solution for document storage and management, accessible to the application.
  • Work with application Software Architect and Engineers to ensure alignment of Object Models with Data Models via Object Relational Mapping (ORM).
  • Design data architecture to enable Role Based Access Controls (RBAC) in the app.
  • Design for security and ensuring proper handling of PII and sensitive data, as well as other non-functional requirements including Data Loss Prevention, data integrity, auditability, RPO, etc.
  • Align data from multiple discrete data sets into a cohesive, interoperable architecture, identifying opportunities for linkages between datasets, normalization, field standardization, etc.
  • Assist with cleanup of existing data and models, including use of ETL.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor on data architecture and modernization strategy.
  • Lead engagements from assessment through implementation, ensuring delivery excellence and measurable outcomes.
  • Translate complex business and technical requirements into actionable data warehouse and relational database solutions using the AWS platform, working with data SMEs.
  • Ensure solutions support auditability, internal controls, and statutory compliance requirements. This includes strict financial data controls.
  • Lead technical risk assessments and mitigation planning for data-related initiatives.
  • Lead and support multidisciplinary teams including data engineers, analysts, and consultants.
  • Work closely with Application Architects to ensure aligned system architecture.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Mentor junior engineers and architects and contribute to architecture review boards and governance forums.
