About The Position

Arcetyp LLC is a growing small business that provides a broad range of consulting services to US Federal Government, US Military, and Commercial clients. Services include Management & IT Consulting, Program & Project Management, and Professional & Admin Services. For a client engagement we have need to fill a position for a Data Architect. The position must work 2 to 3 days a week onsite at the Government client site in Baltimore MD and telework for other days. POSITION DESCRIPTION: Responsible for designing and implementing data architecture in alignment with the agency/organization’s business practice. The individual is responsible for the following tasks: A. Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end data architecture. B. Define and enforce data architecture standards, principles, and best practices. C. Collaboration with multiple teams to understand data usage requirements and objectives. D. Identify and evaluate data management solutions and technologies. E. Implement data governance policies and procedures to promote data quality, integrity, security, and compliance. F. Evaluate, improve, and optimize current systems. G. Create and update documentation

Requirements

  • This position requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science, statistics, mathematics, economics, or related field. Three (3) years of equivalent experience in a related field may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree.
  • The proposed candidate must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a data architect.
  • The candidate should have experience as a data architect or similar role with a strong understanding of data architecture principles and practices. The candidate should be proficient in data modeling tools and knowledgeable of relational, non-relational, and graph databases, along with data management platforms.
  • At least Fifteen (15) years of experience in architecting on-prem/cloud based multiuser environments with expertise in planning, designing, building, and implementing IT application modernization /implementation effort.
  • Must have a strong background in software engineering principles and techniques.
  • Experience in web application technologies and middleware solutions.
  • Experience working in the database domain with at least two (2) years of experience managing all operations of Big Data stack – preferably Cloudera in a Cloud Environment.
  • Experience with big data tools such as HBASE, Spark, Python, Splice Machine, MongoDB, NoSQL based decision systems.
  • Must have Hands-on experience in Hadoop Ecosystem including HDFS, Hive, Yarn, Spark, Streamsets.
  • Map-Reduce, Kafka as well as experience working with NoSQL Platforms.
  • Experience in designing and implementing automation using scripts, must be proficient in scripting.
  • Must demonstrate a broad understanding of client IT environmental issues and solutions and be a recognized expert within the IT industry.
  • Must demonstrate advanced abilities to team and mentor and possess demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with information architecture and product/application roadmap planning.
  • Experience with technical architecture including software and hardware sizing and capacity planning.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with development teams and customers to design, architect, implement, and support big data solutions.
  • Provide design and development of cloud-based solutions and is responsible for technical design and implementation of the architecture.
  • Design, develop and maintain infrastructure and backend applications.
  • Provide definition of current state architecture blueprints.
  • Research new technologies and products for their applicability to business processes.
  • Compare various solutions and determine the one which best fits the need.
  • Ensure that development efforts are well planned and in agreement with standards.
