About The Position

The Work: The Data Architect will design, implement, and govern enterprise data architectures supporting mission‑critical federal systems. This role partners closely with engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure data solutions are secure, scalable, compliant, and analytics‑ready, enabling informed decision‑making across agency programs. Job Location: This is a fully remote role which may require occasional travel to the DC Metro area as needed for onsite client meetings. Preference to candidates located within the Washington, DC Metro area. If you accept this position, you should note that ICF does monitor employee work locations and blocks access from foreign locations/foreign IP addresses, and also prohibits personal VPN connections.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret clearance, with SCI eligibility
  • 2+ years of experience designing and supporting enterprise data solutions in federal or regulated environments
  • At least 2+ years of supporting federal or DoD programs, preferably DCSA

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Prior experience supporting DCSA or similar national security programs
  • Strong experience with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Azure SQL, or similar)
  • Knowledge of data modeling techniques, ETL/ELT processes, and data integration patterns
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and modern data services
  • Experience supporting security, governance, and compliance requirements
  • Experience with data warehousing, reporting, and analytics platforms
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure‑as‑code

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain enterprise‑level data architectures, including data models, schemas, flows, and integration patterns
  • Lead architecture for relational, cloud, and hybrid data platforms supporting operational systems, data warehouses, and analytics environments
  • Partner with application teams, data engineers, and DevOps to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability
  • Define and enforce data governance, standards, and best practices (data quality, lineage, metadata, and access controls)
  • Support data migrations and modernization efforts from legacy to cloud environments
  • Ensure compliance with federal IT and security frameworks (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP, FISMA)
  • Develop and maintain architecture documentation, data dictionaries, and technical standards
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and system modernization planning
