About The Position

The Data Application Manager for the Transportation Planning and Management Division (TPM) at NYC DOT will oversee research and analysis studies related to transportation safety, contributing to the Vision Zero initiative aimed at reducing traffic fatalities and severe injuries in New York City. This role involves developing data management systems, producing data products, and analyzing data to inform policy and planning efforts. The successful candidate will supervise staff, conduct data mining, and build predictive models while ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of data analytics for the agency's mission.

Requirements

• Proficient in SQL, with PostGIS experience preferable.
• Intermediate skills in Python and GIS.
• Advanced statistical analysis abilities and data visualization skills.
• Proven experience working with large diverse datasets.
• Interest in Vision Zero transportation safety goals.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform research and analysis studies related to transportation safety efforts.
• Provide analysis and data products to agency leadership to inform Vision Zero policy, planning, and implementation.
• Conduct data mining and analysis exercises.
• Maintain vital databases and build predictive machine learning models.
• Contribute to ongoing data analysis efforts for tracking, prioritizing, and evaluating agency initiatives.
• Supervise staff in conducting research and presenting data outputs to technical and non-technical audiences.
