About The Position

The Data Analytics / Vehicle Application Engineer will serve as a bridge between simulation, vehicle dynamics, and race engineering. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and integrating advanced analytical tools that transform raw data into actionable performance insights. The position requires strong programming, data processing, and racing domain expertise to support decision-making across race weekends, testing, and simulation activities.

Requirements

  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Analytical and strategic mindset focused on efficiency, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Ability to balance priorities across multiple projects and teams.
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems, telemetry formats, and simulation environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate data-driven insights into actionable engineering recommendations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure racing environment, including occasional travel to test and race events.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Proven experience in motorsport data analysis, simulation, or performance engineering.
  • Strong coding and automation skills, including proficiency in Python, MATLAB, Visual Basic, C++, or equivalent languages.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain custom tools and integrations within the team’s engineering tool suite (e.g., simulation, telemetry, setup, and data acquisition systems).
  • Create scripts, plugins, and automated workflows to streamline data handling and analysis processes.
  • Develop and maintain analysis tools and standardized reports to deliver actionable insights for crew chiefs, race engineers, and drivers.
  • Translate raw vehicle and simulation data into clear recommendations on car setup, handling balance, aerodynamic performance, and performance trade-offs.
  • Conduct data correlation and trend analysis across simulation, track testing, and race weekend sessions.
  • Work directly with race engineers and strategy staff to provide real-time analytics, predictive modeling, and live data visualization during events.
  • Support pre-race preparation and post-race debriefing through performance reviews, setup comparisons, and competitor analysis.
  • Maintain and update proprietary databases tracking historical performance, environmental conditions, and competitor benchmarks.
  • Ensure data integrity, accessibility, and integration across analysis platforms and storage systems.
  • Support DiL (Driver-in-the-Loop) sessions by organizing test data, correlating virtual vs. real-world performance, and assisting in tire scaling and model validation.
  • Perform Design of Experiments (DOE) studies to quantify setup sensitivities and balance trends.
  • Lead or assist with special projects involving race data analytics, performance modeling, and race strategy optimization.
  • Support on-site data acquisition and analysis during track tests and development programs.
  • Other duties as assigned
