About The Position

The Data Analytics Intern will support the Data & Reporting Team in maintaining, improving, and documenting DMEA's data systems and reporting environment. This role is ideal for a student interested in data analytics, database management, business intelligence, or information systems. The intern will gain hands-on experience working with real-world utility data, reporting tools, and modern data platforms including SQL databases, Power BI, Azure, and enterprise data systems. This position provides an opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that improve operational efficiency, data quality, and decision-making across the organization.

Requirements

• Must be actively enrolled in high school or in an accredited degree or certificate program.
• No prior experience with databases, SQL, or programming is required.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Must have a valid driver's license, preferred.
• Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking and the use of keyboard/computer, and occasional bending, kneeling, reaching and lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Requires attention to detail; the ability to read, write and perform basic math.
• The use of office equipment including personal computers, related software, copiers and fax machines, etc.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Business, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Create and update documentation for databases, reports, and systems (Scribe, GitHub, etc.).
• Help develop diagrams such as Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) to document database structures.
• Assist with maintaining and organizing data team documentation and procedures (SharePoint, FileShare, GitHub, etc.).
• Support the team in reviewing reports and helping validate data (Azure, iVue, MDM, Aclara, etc.).
• Learn and develop professional skills in a business environment.
• Interacts and represents the company in a professional manner with a variety of people, including customers, employees, and affiliated organizations.
