About The Position

We are hiring a Data Analytics Co-Op in 2026! The Data Analytics Co-Op position is a unique opportunity for enrolled students to take a front seat in the clean energy transition and advanced metering infrastructure deployment. Successful candidates will help RMLD plan and implement its strategy to provide reliable, low cost and non-carbon energy to our communities. The Data Analytics Co-op will learn by performing load profile analysis, power supply analysis, and retail program design. Required skills include basic technical understanding of electricity and its distribution, data analytics, inquisitiveness, and written and verbal presentation. The Data Analytics Co-Op will be assigned specific projects and will present project results. This position will report to the Director of the Integrated Resources Division of Reading Municipal Light Department.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree program in Data Science, Data Analytics, Operations and Information Management, Resource Economics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field as determined by the RMLD.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and technical information to peers and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze.
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and be adaptable to competing demands.
  • Ability to complete assigned work in a timely manner under deadline pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish own work plans and priorities and/or work cohesively with cross functional teams.
  • Must have strong computer skills with an emphasis on analytical tools such as machine learning tools, database, Python, or SQL.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in building hourly load profiles for various segments of RMLD’s customers and analyzing the load trend over time and across segments.
  • Assist in streamlining RMLD’s data analytics standard operating procedures by helping identify appropriate analytical tools or platforms and document the programming process for routine data analytics tasks.
  • Assist in data analytics related to RMLD’s electric vehicle charging stations, heat pumps, weatherization, distributed generation, demand response, Time of Use and other energy optimization program activities, and in designing new programs.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining appropriate databases, developing tracking and reporting systems, coordinating database management and reporting functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
