About The Position

The Data Analytics Assortment Planner Intern position at Dollar Tree's corporate office is for individuals with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a passion for using data to drive strategy. Interns will act as a "right-hand partner" to Category Directors and Merchants, utilizing data analytics to define product assortment and maximize growth. Requirements

May 2027 graduate currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Finance, Statistics, Economics, or Business Management.
Analytical Mindset: Enjoy "playing with numbers" and finding patterns in large datasets.
Communication & Influence: Enjoy talking to people and influencing merchants by communicating complex data clearly.
Detail Oriented: Understand that in retail, small details in a spreadsheet lead to big wins in the store.
Fast-Paced Problem Solving: Ability to pivot as markets change and trends evolve.
Strong proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools.

Responsibilities

Perform deep-dive analysis of historical product performance to develop the "wedge" (the specific product mix) for your category.
Develop item-level plans to project the inventory required to hit sales, margin, and "turn" goals (how fast a product sells).
Use assortment planning software to assess the financial impact of including new items versus removing underperforming ones.
Analyze actual business results against your plans and trends, identifying why variances occurred.
Provide data-driven guidance to Replenishment Analysts, Allocators, and Product Development teams to ensure everyone is aligned with the assortment strategy.
Propose clear action plans to leadership that capitalize on market opportunities and mitigate financial risks.
