You will join our Data & Analytics team, which currently includes two Data Engineers, a Data Scientist, and a Director of Data Engineering. The team sits within Backstage’s Product and Engineering department — a collaborative group of high-performing engineers, designers, product managers, analysts, and QA professionals. Our Data team supports seven businesses within TCS under a unified data strategy, delivering standardized metrics, actionable insights, and consistent reporting that empower teams to make confident, data-informed decisions. We bring both data excellence and creativity to our work — analyzing large-scale customer and event data to uncover trends, evaluate performance, and understand how effectively jobs on the Backstage platform reach and engage customers. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with partners across product, marketing, and data to translate insights into predictive action that improves job visibility, strengthens customer engagement, and drives growth across Backstage’s marketplace. The Data Analyst will report to Backstage’s Director of Data & Analytics.

  • Analyze customer behavior, event data, and marketplace trends to uncover opportunities that improve acquisition, engagement, and retention.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards in Looker and Amplitude to track key performance metrics across marketing, product, and operations.
  • Translate complex data into clear narratives, executive-facing reports, and visualizations that support day-to-day and strategic decision-making.
  • Support ad-hoc analysis of customer cohorts, campaign results, and marketplace trends to identify new areas for growth and improvement.
  • Translate business questions into standardized reports and analytical frameworks that deliver consistent insights across brands and business functions.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers and Scientists to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and aligned definitions across systems.
  • Use SQL and warehouse data (Redshift/PostgreSQL) to create models, queries, and data sets for reporting and ad-hoc analysis.
  • Partner with Product and Marketing teams to evaluate A/B test results, attribution performance, and audience segmentation.
  • Maintain data documentation, ensuring clarity in metric definitions and event tracking logic.
  • Support continuous optimization of data tools, dashboards, and workflows to enhance team efficiency and self-service capabilities.
  • 6+ years of experience in data analysis, business analytics, or a similar field working closely with marketing, product, or growth teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate findings into actionable business recommendations.
  • Advanced SQL proficiency and experience using modern data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery).
  • Proficiency with BI and analytics tools such as Looker, Amplitude, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working with event-based or session-level data and building insights from customer behavior.
  • Knowledge of marketing and user journey analytics, including attribution and funnel analysis.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills — comfortable working cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical partners.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and eager to continue learning in a supportive, data-driven environment.
  • Experience with Python, dbt, or reverse ETL workflows (e.g., Hightouch) is a plus but not required.
