The part-time research position focuses on analyzing infant gut microbiome samples (shotgun metagenomics and metabolomics) and integrating these data with human genomic, environmental (pre- and post-natal), cognitive, behavioral, and nutritional datasets. The researcher will play a key role in managing the lab’s data and analyses, contributing to grant writing, and preparing scientific presentations. The primary project investigates how gut microbiomes mediate the relationship between environmental exposures and child development in a large, longitudinal, and well-characterized pediatric cohort in South Africa. In addition to these responsibilities, the researcher is encouraged to develop independent research directions aligned with the project.
