About The Position

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is seeking a technical Data Analyst/Scientist to build software solutions for real clinical environments. Unlike traditional analyst roles focused on static reporting, this position focuses on building and deploying applications. The successful candidate will lead the development of infrastructure for Generative AI pilots, handle full-stack development (React, Python), and manage complex data operations within Snowflake. Job Description: Essential Responsibilities: Full-Stack Application Development: Design, build, and maintain production-grade web applications to support clinical pilots. Develop APIs using Python frameworks (FastAPI, Django) and build responsive front-end interfaces (React). Generative AI Implementation: Collaborate with physicians to integrate and pilot Generative AI tools within clinical workflows; manage compute resources and API integrations. Data Engineering & Operations: Extract, clean, and model complex clinical data from Snowflake databases using advanced SQL. Ensure data pipelines are robust and scalable. Infrastructure & Deployment: containerize applications using Docker and manage deployment pipelines. Ensure software reliability and security in a healthcare setting. Collaboration: Translate clinical requirements into technical specifications. Work closely with researchers to move projects from "analysis scripts" to "deployed software."

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Allied Health or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years related work experience required, including experience with application maintenance of relational databases.
  • Advanced technical computer skills for technical support specific to functional area and related systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Experience with modern web frameworks (React, Django, FastAPI).
  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and software engineering best practices.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) or healthcare data standards.
  • Note: This role requires the ability to write production-ready code. It is not suitable for analysts whose experience is limited to Jupyter Notebooks, R scripting, or dashboarding tools (Tableau/PowerBI).
