About the position

The Data Analyst/System Analyst role is focused on assisting with the procurement, development, and implementation of a new electronic infectious disease surveillance system. This position is critical for modernizing disease reporting, surveillance, and management, ensuring compliance with the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) specifications. The analyst will also support enhancements to the existing system until the new one is fully operational, working closely with program area staff to address daily support needs and system testing.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the procurement, development, and implementation of a new electronic infectious disease surveillance system.
  • Support enhancements of the current electronic infectious disease surveillance system until the new system is implemented.
  • Assess business needs and determine project scope and requirements.
  • Oversee system testing to enhance and support solutions.
  • Provide daily support, problem resolution, user account management, reporting, and integration.
  • Learn system capabilities to provide analysis, testing, and monitoring of system performance.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Information Technology Field, best practices, organization, and operations.
  • Ability to learn new systems and become an expert.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and provide system support.
  • Proficiency in O365 products and applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Experience in system analysis, monitoring, and reporting on system performance and data quality.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Experience with ticketing systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to establish positive working relationships with technical staff, customers, and others involved in data-centric management.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Visio.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365.
  • Experience with ticketing software.
  • Knowledge of industry standard information security practices.
