About The Position

Quanex is looking for a Data Analyst Intern to join our team located in Houston, TX or Akron, OH. This internship opportunity is for Summer 2026. The Data Analyst Intern will support the IT Shared Services team by assisting with data analysis, documentation, validation, and reporting efforts that advance the company’s Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse initiatives. This role provides hands-on experience working with enterprise sales and operational datasets sourced from multiple ERP systems while helping document data structures, validate data accuracy, and support reporting needs. The internship offers exposure to data analysis, BI tools, and foundational data engineering concepts while collaborating closely with technical teams and business stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, with coursework in data analysis, data management, or BI concepts.
  • Experience or coursework using SQL to query and analyze datasets, along with exposure to BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, relational databases, and basic ETL concepts, supported by solid analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Able to communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, demonstrating clarity, adaptability, and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, enhancement, validation, and QA testing of BI dashboards and reporting assets, ensuring they meet leadership and commercial team needs.
  • Perform data validation, reconciliation, and profiling to ensure warehouse data aligns with source systems and to identify missing values, duplicates, or inconsistencies.
  • Support analysis of sales and operational datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and insights, and help document business logic, calculations, and reporting requirements.
  • Help maintain and document data warehouse structures, including tables, fields, relationships, source-to-target mappings, and enterprise data dictionaries.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers, BI Developers, and business stakeholders while following IT governance, documentation standards, and data security protocols, and assist with related duties as assigned.
