About The Position

The Data Analyst II position at the State of Rhode Island involves conducting comprehensive data analytics activities, including data cleaning, analysis, and reporting. Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, or a closely related field.
  • 5 years of professional experience as a data analyst, particularly with GIS and ArcGIS.
  • Thorough knowledge of data models, regression analysis, database design, and data mining techniques.
  • Proficiency in statistical methodologies for analyzing large datasets.
  • Ability to conduct queries, draw conclusions, and prepare clear reports.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SQL for querying spatial and non-spatial data.
  • Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS software platforms and applications.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Ruby, Python, Java, C++, or JavaScript as applied to GIS workflows.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and software design patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct full lifecycle activities of data analytics including requirements gathering, design, data cleaning, and reporting.
  • Monitor performance and quality control plans to identify improvements in models.
  • Ensure the integrity of project data through extraction, storage, manipulation, processing, and analysis.
  • Develop and implement data collection systems to optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
  • Provide data visualization and present analytical findings to stakeholders.
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary sources and maintain databases/data systems.
  • Link databases and datasets to generate integrated datasets.
  • Filter and clean data, reviewing reports and performance indicators to correct issues.
  • Supervise GIS staff and manage GIS projects from inception to completion.
