About The Position

We are seeking a highly analytical Data Analyst with strong expertise in databases, data modeling, and financial data analysis. This role is critical in bridging technical data structures with business meaning by defining a semantic layer and improving metadata practices within our AWS Databricks Delta Lake environment. The ideal candidate will combine technical proficiency with financial acumen to deliver actionable insights and enable advanced query capabilities.

Requirements

Strong understanding of databases, SQL, and data modeling principles
Ability to navigate complex schemas and connect disparate data sources
Familiarity with financial data analysis, KPIs, and business processes
Experience with metadata management, semantic layer design, and data governance
Proficiency in BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) and data lineage tools
Unity Catalog and Databricks experience is a plus, but not mandatory
Self-starter with ability to work independently after initial guidance
Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement

Nice To Haves

Exposure to AI-driven query interfaces and best practices for semantic modeling
Knowledge of API integration for metadata automation

Responsibilities

Semantic Layer & Metadata Management:
Define and maintain a business-friendly semantic layer on top of existing tables
Document Databricks Delta Lake database relationships, add table/column descriptions, tags, and classifications
Build and maintain ontology and metadata to support governance and discoverability
Integrate data quality (DQ) rules and ensure data integrity across systems
Collaborate on taxonomy development and best practices for semantic modeling
Financial Data Analysis:
Collect, clean, and validate financial data from internal and external sources
Analyze large datasets to identify trends in revenue, expenses, profitability, and risk exposure
Perform statistical and scenario analysis to assess market conditions and portfolio performance
Build dashboards and reports for financial KPIs using tools like Power BI or Tableau
Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders in clear, actionable formats
Enable Advanced Querying:
Support conversational query tools (e.g., Genie, text-to-SQL interfaces)
Ensure semantic layer supports natural language queries such as -Show me revenue for top 10 clients-
Process Improvement:
Embed semantic and metadata practices into table creation workflows to avoid technical debt Strong understanding of databases, SQL, and data modeling principles
Ability to navigate complex schemas and connect disparate data sources
