About The Position

The Data Analyst, Emerging Talent Intern position is part of the NYC Transit Authority's Service Delivery-Power Control Center. The intern will assist in modernizing internal systems and applications by creating database applications. The role involves supporting the Field Operations team, which ensures safe and reliable service to nearly 6 million customers daily. The intern will work at the Rail Control Center, which monitors service around the clock and responds to disruptions to keep trains running on schedule.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of database structures and reporting tools.
• Strong knowledge of Excel and Microsoft applications, including PowerApps and Power BI.
• Knowledge of visualization techniques and creating reports.
• Organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Keen eye for detail and ability to work independently while being an active team player.

Responsibilities

• Perform administrative tasks assigned by management.
• Help with the filing of internal paperwork and log entry.
• Perform General Data Entry in Excel and other applications.
• Assist in the creation of 'Standard Operation Procedures' for departmental functions.
• Update any additional manuals as per Management/System Operator instructions.
• Handle IT-related functions.
• Knowledge of applications (such as Access, Excel, Power Apps, and Power Automate, and Microsoft 365).
• Knowledge of automating tasks, report creation, or willingness to learn.
• Assist in creating database applications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data related issues.
• Assist in the cleaning and formatting of data in Excel or other applications.
• Analyze and validate data errors in internal systems.
• Record retention out files that would be sent out to storage.
• Work on developing applications for the department.
• Assist in creating intern dashboards using Power BI.

Benefits

• Hourly rate of $21.00 for graduate interns.
