The mission of the Bureau of Tuberculosis Control is to prevent the spread of tuberculosis and to eliminate it as a public health problem in New York City. Reporting to the Director of Disease Investigation and Case Management (DICM), the Data Analyst will perform data analysis on case management activities captured in the TB registry to generate reports, identify and track trends, areas of concerns, and conduct routine quality assurance reviews.

  • Perform medium to high level data analysis on case data entered in the Electronic Disease Surveillance System (TB registry).
  • Prepare routine and episodic reports including but not limited to, monthly case management activity statistics, Monthly DOT statistics, quarterly report for NY State, and CDC reports.
  • Perform medium to high level quality assurance on CM data and identify trends.
  • Perform DICM evaluation activities and assist with DICM research efforts.
  • Maintain/manage DICM data files, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological or environmental science or in public health.
  • For Assignment Level II and above, a doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or a master's degree with three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization.
  • Excellent data management skills, experience cleaning, manipulating and analyzing large data sets using statistical software such as SAS, SQL and R.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and comfortable in preparing and delivering presentations to medium to large groups.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and track progress to adhere to set timelines.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple and diverse assignments.
