The incumbent will report to the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) Data Analysis Bureau. Under the direction of the Data Analyst 2, the Data Analyst 1, will assist in identifying geospatial data and analysis needs, gathering and integrating data on processes and patterns, managing and analyzing large datasets, and creating products to support data informed decision making in disasters and emergencies. Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Work with program areas to develop and build models in support of analytic use cases. Draft technical requirements and data definitions for scopes of work. Provide input on current approaches and recommends improvements to best achieve project goals. Collect and gather data from various internal and external sources and evaluate the data for completeness and relevance to emergency management needs. Clean and pre-process data to remove inconsistencies, inaccuracies, and duplication. Use statistical software (e.g., SAS, Excel, Tableau) and assist with continual improvement of data collection and processing efforts. Analyze data using appropriate statistical procedures to identify patterns and trends. Summarize results, creates written reports, and collaborates with program areas to develop solutions to identified needs. Translate technical data into layman terms. Review and suggest improvements to current or planned systems and processes. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the agency's mission or other program areas. Travel may be required, up to 20%.
