About The Position

Under the general direction of Service Line Administrator, the Data Abstractor performs chart abstraction for the medical and surgical practice providers. The position is responsible for abstraction of medical, social, family, and surgical histories, health maintenance items, and other documentation as assigned. As a Data Abstractor, you will play a crucial role in extracting and summarizing relevant information from various sources and organizing it into a structured format. Your attention to detail and ability to accurately abstract data will be essential in ensuring the quality and reliability of our data-driven initiatives.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED and over one year of experience in a health-care environment, required
• Vocational Diploma in Medical Assistant or Nursing and over one year of experience in a health-care environment, preferred
• MediTech experience, preferred

Responsibilities

• Collects and abstracts health, social, surgical, family, and OB histories, and other data as assigned
• Conducts thorough reviews of abstracted data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness
• Maintains detailed and organized records during the abstraction process, documenting any potential discrepancies or issues encountered during the abstraction process
• Assists in identifying discrepancies, duplications, or inaccuracies to maintain data integrity and reliability
• Suggest improvements to the data abstraction process, guidelines, and tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and productivity
• Ensures compliance with relevant data privacy and security regulations while handling and processing data in the medical record
• Demonstrates ability to prioritize work assignments to meet deadlines and maintain timely departmental operations
• Perform other duties as may be assigned to ensure that departmental objectives are fulfilled
