About The Position

HealthPartners is hiring a Data Abstraction Specialist. This role will work mainly during the 'HEDIS' season, which spans from January to the end of April. They will work around 25 hours per week. The position involves chart retrieval and abstraction to support our annual HEDIS compliance audit, as well as data collection support for audits for other departments in the company. HEDIS, or Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set, is a required part of our health plan accreditation process. HealthPartners is also required to submit these rates to the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Government regulators, health plans, provider organizations, and employers use HEDIS to compare plan performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in related field or four years related work experience in lieu of degree
• Four years' experience with EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems or at least four years experience in the health care industry preferably in data abstraction, medical chart review, utilization review, prior authorization, case management, or clinical data/reporting in an EMR
• Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical data and medical records
• Effective organizational skills and ability to work independently to coordinate, prioritize and complete work assignments
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Exercise initiative, flexibility and willingness to work with a team for a common goal
• Good computer skills including Microsoft office products and ability to learn new software used for data entry

Nice To Haves

• RN or LPN
• Bachelor's degree in related field
• HMO or Managed care experience

Responsibilities

• Conducts data collection and abstraction of medical records for quality audits and other projects
• Coordinates chart review with medical groups/clinics
• Utilizes claims system to research member encounters to supplement work process
• Accurately enters abstracted data into data entry tool
• Supports the HEDIS audit as assigned
• Supports data collection for risk adjustment audits throughout the year
• Performs other duties as assigned
