About The Position

The Dartmouth Hitchcock Undergraduate Summer Internship Programs offer undergraduate students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various healthcare settings, including clinical, business, and operational environments. The program includes a professional development curriculum designed to enhance learning and provide exposure to different aspects of healthcare. Interns can choose from multiple tracks based on their interests and qualifications, including patient care, laboratory research, engineering, hospital operations, and healthcare administration.

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• At least 18 years old by the first day of the internship
• Must have completed one full year of undergraduate study
• Availability to commit to the full program
• Must arrange own housing and transportation
• Eligible for employment in the United States
• Successfully complete the Dartmouth Health pre-employment screening process including criminal background check and drug screen

Nice To Haves

• Active New Hampshire LNA license (for Patient Care Interns)
• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers from the American Heart Association (for Patient Care Interns)

Responsibilities

• Assists with routine patient care activities under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, including performing ADLs, obtaining clinical data, and collecting specimens.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment by keeping hallways clear and emptying linen bags.
• Assists visitors and answers telephones.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned.
