About The Position

This is a part-time position working no more than 17 hours per week, with no benefits. Under the direction of the Arts and Community Events Recreation Coordinator, Dance Instructors teach a variety of dance classes including ballet, tap, jazz, and creative movement for youth including preschool age children.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Any combination of education, professional training, and dance experience that provides the required level of knowledge and ability to teach classes in area of expertise is required.
• Must have knowledge of ballet, tap, jazz, and creative movement.
• Must be First Aid & CPR certified.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach dance classes for preschool children and other youth.
• Develop written class lesson plans.
• Communicate clearly with children and adults.
• Evaluate class effectiveness and make changes as needed or requested.
• Ensure a safe and constructive teaching environment.
• Prepare class evaluations and attendance forms as requested.
• Remain current in training and education required to effectively teach class in area of expertise.
• Work with the public in a polite, understanding, and tactful manner.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
