About The Position

National Dance Institute of New Mexico is founded with the knowledge that the arts have a unique power to engage and motivate children. The purpose of our distinctive programs is to help children develop discipline, a standard of excellence, and a belief in themselves that will carry over into all aspects of their lives. NDI New Mexico is always looking for inspiring Dance Instructors to join our teams in both Santa Fe and Albuquerque. We have opportunities for casual/substitute teaching, for regular part-time work as a part of our faculty, and consideration for full-time positions. Opportunities include summer camps in June and July, weekly classes running from August through May, after-school programs for ages 3-18 (disciplines offered after-school are ballet, jazz, tap, modern/contemporary, hip hop and breaking, musical theater), and an outreach program in the public schools statewide with paid training to learn the outreach methodology and curriculum.

Requirements

• Five years of dance training and performance experience is required
• Minimum 1-2 years dance teaching experience
• Requires weekend and evening hours
• Requires extensive physical movement, dance, high energy, and stamina
• Ability to work with people of all backgrounds and ages
• Supports teamwork and collaboration
• Behaves ethically and with personal integrity
• Excellent communication and management skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Self-motivated
• Detail oriented
• Professional appearance

Nice To Haves

• Five to ten years of dance training and performance experience is preferred
• Experience specifically in ballet, jazz, tap, modern, musical theater and/or hip hop

Responsibilities

• Teach specific dance disciplines, curricula, and levels
• Prepare lesson plans and choreography, as needed
• Attend enrichment workshops and staff meetings as needed
• Follow NDI New Mexico program curriculum set by program director
• Provide program director with required materials and information as needed
• Support performances by working backstage
