What you’ll be working on… Traveling to pre-determined work sites to follow up on operator and crew excavation safety practices and code compliance. Educating work crews and contractors on local law. Establishing positive and forward-thinking interactions between utility, public, and private contractors. Completing field reports detailing conversations, noncompliance activity, and determined resolutions to minimize utility damage risks. Utilizing the platform to enhance overall 811 public awareness. Monitoring/inspecting activities of directional boring excavators working around Company facilities. Monitoring quality of locates in designated high profile areas to prevent damages ahead of excavation. Maintaining files for future reference and retrieval. Assisting with tracking metrics related to line locates, unlocatables and damages etc. Assisting and investigating with onsite analysis of cause the third-party damages to Company facilities. Investigating should include determining root cause of damage and determining fault. Documentation to include photographs, interviews, and any other pertinent information. Collaborating with contractors to ensure damage free excavations. Coordinating training meetings with contractors and municipalities. Participating in damage prevention training to company employees and contractors. Performing "Courtesy Stops" when an excavator appears to be digging without locates. Encouraging the excavator to reconsider. Educating the excavator about personal and public safety hazards, 811, the state damage prevention law, and the potential for financial liability. Monitoring prevention methods to reduce third party damages to Company facilities. Establishing and maintaining positive employee, client and public relations. Providing feedback to Damage Prevention Leader and Coordinators to develop new and more efficient procedures to mitigate gas damages. Coordinating with utility owners or their designee and GIS staff to perform an after-action review of any mismarked or damaged utility incidents to determine the root cause in order to prevent similar incidents in the future. Reviewing and approving redline submittals of changes to GIS. Designing and implementing methods to ensure that utilities locations are kept accurate and up to date. Coordinating with contractors, other utility areas, surveyors, and engineers, to locate utilities, aiding in their design and resolving conflicts regarding their location.
