About The Position

Duties and Responsibilities Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness, emphasizing fast and friendly customer service. Assists customers by making product suggestions and providing knowledgeable service. Engages in suggestive selling through telephone interactions, in-store intercom announcements, and one-on-one customer engagement. Answers and responds to incoming calls appropriately. Receives, addresses, and resolves customer complaints; escalates issues to the Store Director as needed. Rotates and discards outdated or spoiled products. Ensures cleanliness, safety, and sanitation of the work area and department. Implements effective promotional and seasonal displays. Ensures merchandise is correctly priced, displayed, and shelves are clean and properly maintained. Assists in other areas of the Grocery Department as needed. Follows and enforces department standards, requirements, and company policies as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook. Enforces proper code dating for all department products. Assists with physical inventory conducted every six months. Controls inventory levels to ensure adequate quantity, quality, and freshness in accordance with division directives. Stocks and rotates product appropriately. Supervises all reclamation processing and maintains orderly, well-stocked back room and Dairy Department areas. Controls shrink and departmental costs. Implements correct product preparation techniques. Uses and operates department equipment including pallet jacks, hand trucks, knives, scissors, safety cutters, and Sterilox machines. Performs receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying invoices, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating product. Adheres to product temperature, storage, and packaging guidelines. Processes administrative paperwork and maintains accurate department records. Completes and monitors daily log sheets, sales, labor, and other required documentation. Ensures proper temperature levels are maintained for all products. Complies with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, company policies, and code dating requirements. Follows all workplace safety rules and regulations. Implements emergency procedures in the event of equipment or computer software malfunctions. Operates computer software and electronic ordering systems to order product. Complies with and enforces company grooming standards and dress code. Performs all job duties safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity. Performs other duties as assigned. Strong mental alertness to ensure safe and accurate completion of work. Basic math skills and understanding of weights and measures. Knowledge of product variety, standards, perishability, product handling, sanitation, labeling, and department procedures. Operates telephones, pallet jacks, hand trucks, knives, scissors, safety cutters, Sterilox machines, cleaning supplies, and related equipment. Operates computer software and electronic ordering devices. Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled; hours may vary. Maintains dependable attendance. Exposure to potential hazards related to equipment and work aids. Work Environment Primarily works in a temperature-controlled environment. Frequently exposed to refrigerated conditions around 35°F. May be exposed to freezer temperatures as low as -20°F. Occasional travel, including overnight travel, may be required.
