The Dairy/Frozen Grocery Supervisor works under the direction of the Grocery Department Manager to oversee the operations of the grocery dairy/frozen department. This role includes supervising staff, managing inventory, ensuring a clean and organized department, and providing excellent customer service, all while supporting the department manager in achieving store goals.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a grocery or retail environment, with some supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of grocery operations, inventory management, and merchandising.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and point-of-sale systems.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Customer-focused mindset.

  • Effective communication and team collaboration.
  • Organizational and time-management abilities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Nice To Haves

  • Additional education in retail management or business preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in grocery or retail roles, with supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Support: Assist the Department Manager in overseeing daily operations of the center store/grocery department.
  • Ensure the department meets sales, labor, and expense goals as directed by the manager.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing grocery area.
  • Inventory and Merchandising: Support inventory management to minimize shrinkage and optimize stock rotation.
  • Ensure shelves are well-stocked, labeled, and merchandised according to store standards.
  • Monitor product expiration dates and remove outdated items.
  • Team Supervision: Lead and supervise grocery associates in day-to-day tasks under the guidance of the Department Manager.
  • Assist with staff scheduling and ensure proper coverage.
  • Train employees on policies, procedures, and customer service standards.
  • Customer Service: Assist customers with product inquiries and provide recommendations.
  • Handle customer concerns and elevate issues to the Department Manager when necessary.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to company policies, health, and safety standards.
  • Support proper handling and storage of products according to food safety guidelines.
  • Reporting and Communication: Provide updates to the Department Manager on sales performance, inventory levels, and team progress.
  • Facilitate communication between team members and the Department Manager.
