About The Position

Sea Mart Quality Foods is more than a supermarket; we are a Sitka landmark. Located on an island community with only 14 miles of road, we serve as the primary gateway for our neighbors' daily needs. As a 24-hour independently owned and operated store, we embrace the "Spirit of Alaska" through a deep commitment to our community and a "first-and-last" touchpoint hospitality model. Our history is rooted in resilience, navigating the complexities of island logistics where every product represents a journey by barge. We pride ourselves on being the stabilizing force that keeps Sitka stocked, secure, and welcomed. You Will Be The Cold-Chain Steward: You are the senior authority for temperature integrity, ensuring our most sensitive perishables (dairy and frozen) are safe, fresh, and perfectly rotated. A Tactical Merchant: You lead the execution of dairy wall and frozen bunker resets, balancing visual "Spirit of Alaska" standards with inventory turnover goals. A Stabilizing Leader: You are a mentor to the clerk team, providing the technical confidence and independent judgment required to keep the "Three Pillars" stocked and guest-ready.

Requirements

  • Age Requirement: 19+ Years Old (Required for personnel oversight and regulatory compliance).
  • Technical Mastery: Expert operation of electric pallet jacks, balers, and handheld devices for precision inventory auditing.
  • Dynamic Mobility: Ability to move, traverse, and navigate all areas of the store, including the sales floor, backroom processing areas, and walk-in coolers/freezers.
  • Cold & Moisture Exposure: Ability to work productively in refrigerated or sub-zero environments (-10°F to 45°F) for the duration of a shift.
  • Verbal & Auditory Awareness: Ability to lead shift briefings, respond to equipment safety alarms, and communicate professionally with team members, vendors, and guests.
  • Lifting (Heavy): Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs. (e.g., bulk crates or large cases).

Responsibilities

  • Manage High-Volume Logistics: Coordinate complex procurement cycles for refrigerated and frozen goods to optimize stock levels and minimize shrink.
  • Direct Personnel Flow: Assign tasks to the Dairy/Frozen teams, managing schedules and production to ensure the sales floor is guest-ready every morning.
  • Enforce Compliance: Audit cold-chain temperature logs and serve as the primary investigator for safety incidents within cold-storage environments.
  • Optimize Back-Stock: Oversee the technical organization of the walk-in cooler and deep-freeze storage to maximize replenishment efficiency.
