What You’ll Do: As a daily substitute, you will perform related duties in the absence of the regular classroom teacher to provide continuity in the day-to-day responsibilities by implementing the teacher’s prepared lesson plans.

Requirements

• High school diploma
• Post-secondary education preferred
• Minimum of 1-year teaching experience and working in an urban public school or charter school setting preferred
• Ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies
• Bilingual, candidates of color are strongly encouraged to apply
• Current authorization to work in the United States

Responsibilities

• Provide instructions according to lesson plans as prepared by the classroom teacher or create lesson plans in absence of a prepared lesson.
• Uphold all District policies, rules and procedures to which all regular teachers are subject.
• Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Assist the teacher with all aspects of the daily routine, including distributing and collecting supplies, keeping attendance records, lunchroom duty, recess, etc.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times: in the classroom, school site and in the community.
• Ability to present material using a variety of approaches, techniques, and media aids to stimulate interest, enthusiasm, and curiosity about subjects and events.
• Perform other related duties as requested by the Teacher/Principal.
