About The Position

The Daily Substitute Teacher at Immaculate Conception Academy fills in for the classroom teacher (K-8th grade) in their temporary absence. This role involves following constructed lesson plans and daily activities while guiding students in the classroom setting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in education or education related field.
• Teaching certification is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and supervise an educational program set by the classroom teacher.
• Effective communication skills with parents, students, and co-workers.
• Understanding of child development and skills necessary to relate to students.
• Ability to handle classroom situations with fairness and patience.
• High level of energy and ability to respond calmly to overwhelming situations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity and self-confidence.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a well-managed classroom and a safe, positive learning environment.
• Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, on the playground, and in the cafeteria.
• Follow and implement lesson plans, classwork, homework, and tests.
• Provide appropriate material and resources for students to engage in learning.
• Compile a report for the teacher that includes student attendance, lesson-plan progress, disciplinary actions, and positive developments.
• Knowledge of emergency evacuation routes, school procedures, and regulations for the classrooms assigned.
• Support the school in stimulating and advancing the ongoing development of an organizational culture characterized by a commitment to faith, continuous learning, quality, integrity, mutual respect, and Catholic values.
• Model the expectations of the school and diocese according to the mission and vision espoused.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or his/her designee.
