About The Position

The Howard de Walden Estate (HdWE) is embarking on a business-wide modernisation programme, to revitalise ways of working, data, systems and processes. Project Elevate has been initiated to replace the current Property Management and Accounting system (MRI Platform X), in place for nearly three decades. The programme will deliver a unified, scalable and supportable SaaS platform covering finance, property management, procurement, project accounting and reporting. It is a strategically important initiative that will fundamentally change how the organisation operates and how colleagues interact with core systems. Project Elevate is a multi‑year transformation programme to implement Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management as the organisation’s core ERP platform, integrated with existing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement and M-Files Document Management applications. The project will also incorporate specialist Independent Software Vendor (ISV) solutions, including Yavica’s FlexProperty and SignUp’s ExFlow products. The D365 Finance & Operations Functional Consultant is a permanent internal role forming part of the core Project Elevate delivery team. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the role works closely with business stakeholders, internal IT colleagues and external System Integration partners to ensure business requirements are clearly understood, structured and translated into high-quality functional artefacts. The role acts as a critical bridge between the business and technical delivery teams, combining strong interpersonal skills with solid functional knowledge of D365 Finance & Operations. The role plays a key part in shaping requirements, preparing user stories in Azure DevOps, assuring solution design, and supporting successful testing, adoption and long-term optimisation of the ERP platform.

Requirements

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
  • Experience writing user stories and managing backlogs in Azure DevOps.
  • Strong understanding of Finance and Operations processes within an ERP context.
  • Practical experience supporting ERP implementations or major system upgrades.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot system issues.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, including management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues across multiple business functions.
  • The role requires a flexible working approach, with a requirement to work out of hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Real Estate or similar asset-based environments.
  • Experience working with D365 ISVs, particularly property or finance‑related solutions.
  • Experience of integration landscapes involving D365 (e.g. Azure Integration Services, Dual‑Write).
  • Experience supporting data migration activities and reconciliation.
  • Experience and knowledge of the broader Microsoft architecture
  • Proficient understanding of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, autonomous agents, and automation.
  • Comfortable working in an environment with mixed change maturity levels.
  • Adaptable and pragmatic when handling and managing evolving requirements.
  • Detail‑oriented, with a focus on quality outcomes.
  • Collaborative and able to work effectively with both technical and non‑technical colleagues.
  • Curious and proactive, with an interest in continuous improvement and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate workshops to capture and validate business requirements.
  • Translate requirements into epics, user stories and acceptance criteria using Azure DevOps.
  • Act as the functional interface between the business and System Integration partners.
  • Review and assure functional designs to ensure alignment with business intent.
  • Support data migration, integration discussions and functional decision-making.
  • Support SIT and UAT activities including test scenario definition.
  • Support go-live readiness and hypercare.
  • Assist with training and user adoption activities.
  • Support post go-live enhancements, including gathering and documenting change requests.
  • Act as a functional point of reference for business users.
  • Maintain functional documentation and process artefacts.
  • Drive awareness, reinforcement, and education of best practices to ensure consistent user behaviour and compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives & optimisation of business processes in D365.
  • Contribute to the long-term strategic objectives of the business.
  • Facilitate workshops and training as required.
