About The Position
Fairview Range is hiring a Cytotechnologist for our Laboratory Services Department in Hibbing, MN. We’re offering an up to $6,000 sign-on bonus for a two-year commitment! As a Cytotechnologist, you will specialize in examining human cell samples to detect abnormalities, including cancer and other diseases. You will perform screening examinations of cell samples under a microscope, evaluating cellular patterns for signs of disease. In addition, you will prepare slides for analysis and maintain accurate, detailed records. Schedule: This position will work 40-71 hours per two weeks. The shift length will be 8 hour day shift. We are a CAP accredited, highly complex lab with a fully functional microbiology lab including molecular testing and have on-site pathology support. Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an AMA (NAACLS) accredited program in Cytology.
- Cytotec through ASCP within 1 Year
Nice To Haves
- 1 year One year experience in cytology.
Responsibilities
- Screen slides of cell samplings from the female reproductive tract, the oral cavity, or any body cavity shedding cells, under the microscope to evaluate cellular patterns for signs of cancer, other neoplasms, reactive conditions, and normal findings, noting cells to be evaluated by Pathologist.
- Prepares samples for microscopic examination by staining, mounting, and concentration techniques, if required, according to established procedure.
- Maintain records of patient and specimen, identification of specimen throughout the process, and reports.
- Maintain section policy and procedure manuals; make additions, deletions, and revisions with the approval of the Lab Manager and Pathologist.
- Monitor quality assurance program and documents action.
- Collect fine needle aspiration samples performed in the hospital at the request of the physician.
- Maintain an organized and efficient workflow in a clean and safe environment.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge in the field.
