About The Position

This job performs microscopic screening and diagnosis of gynecological and miscellaneous specimens. Assists in collection and preparation of fine needle aspiration specimens; performs ancillary prep, clerical and quality control duties when needed; enters negative gynecological results into computer; participates in on-site cytology and other continuing education opportunities. Maintains confidentiality of patient related information. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• Graduation from a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation accredited school of cytotechnologist or other organization approved by Health and Human Services or Certified in cytotechnologist by a certification agency approved by HHS (e.g., American Society of Clinical Pathologists).
• None.
• C.T. (ASCP) registered.
• Louisiana CYT license or eligible.

• Adheres to regulatory agency compliance.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Other related duties as required.
• Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
