About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Director, Pathology Supervisor and the Medical Direction of the Pathologists, perform, evaluate, and report routine and non-routine cytologic examinations, microscopic screening of both gynecological and non-gynecological material and fine needle aspirations from various body sites. Requirements

  • Four years of formal training or education beyond the high school level (e.g., Bachelors Degree).
  • Certification required: Cytology Technologist (American Society Clinical Pathologist).
  • None required.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of 12-month CAHEA (Committee on Allied Health Education and Accrediation) accredited cytotechnology program preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Screen, diagnose, and report GYN cytology samples.
  • Screen, diagnose, and report NON-GYN samples.
  • Demonstrates compliance with corporate, departmental and job-specific requirements.
  • Effectively communicates with physicians on calls involving results and problems.
  • Follow established department procedures and maintain quality control as outlined in the Cytology Procedure Manual.
  • Maintain all required records, reports, and files as defined in the Cytology Procedure Manual.
  • Participate in CAP surveys four (4) times annually for GYN and non-GYN.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
