Day shift Make an impact in diagnostic medicine by joining the Cytopathology Laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital. Cytology Technicians play a key role in preparing and processing specimens used to detect cancer and other diseases while working alongside leading cytopathologists in a collaborative academic medical center. This role offers hands-on laboratory experience, exposure to advanced diagnostic techniques, and the opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care. Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Biology preferred or Associate's Degree Related Field of Study preferred
- Lab experience specifically in cytology or related areas such as general lab 0-1 year preferred
- Good understanding of biology, chemistry and math.
- Knowledge of histochemical reagents, solutions, equipment operation and maintenance.
- Manual dexterity and ability to work with small delicate specimens.
- Organized, alert and detail-oriented.
- High degree of integrity, reliability and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Catalogs cytology specimens into the laboratory logging system.
- Processes and prepares cytology specimens for technical evaluation.
- Operates laboratory equipment such as centrifuges, stainers, and processors.
- Maintains inventory and orders laboratory supplies.
- Assists laboratory staff with performing various lab duties.
