About The Position

The Cytogenetics Technologist will examine preparations for florescent In situ hybridization evaluation (FISH), correlating clinical information with morphologic findings on slides, and render an assessment on specimens pending final diagnosis by a pathologist. Requirements

• B.S. in Biological Science or related degree.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in a Cytogenetic position.
• ASCP certification is required and will be verified prior to employment.
• Ability to multi-task, be self-motivated, reliable, and accountable in meeting timelines.
• Excellent computer software and data analysis skills.
• Well-versed in writing SOPs and Quality Control documents.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service/relations skills.

Nice To Haves

• Bladder FISH test experience highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Screens and interprets FISH specimens for benign and neoplastic processes under the supervision of pathologists.
• Prepares and processes FISH specimens.
• Convey information to the pathologist and maintain department documentation.
• Conduct QA correlation review.
• Assists supervisor in meeting department regulatory agency requirements (CLIA, etc.)
• Performs quality control procedures per protocol and completes necessary documentation.
• Document all diagnoses in Vital Axis.
• Performs bladder FISH tests.
• Perform other laboratory and office duties as assigned by manager.
