A day in your life here You begin by setting up OD and ID cylindrical grinders to exact specifications, dialing in fixtures and wheel parameters to hold tight tolerances and achieve the required surface finish. You review detailed blueprints and job packets, interpreting GD&T to plan your sequence of operations. You machine parts in tool steels and heat‑treated alloys, adjusting feeds, speeds, and wheel selection for optimal results. You verify every critical feature with micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges, performing in‑process checks to ensure compliance with stringent quality standards. You perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot issues to keep equipment running at its best. You wrap up by maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Requirements

  • 3+ years setting up and operating OD/ID grinders (e.g., Landis, Studer, Tschudin, Cincinnati).
  • Proven ability to hold tight tolerances and deliver specified surface finishes.
  • Strong knowledge of conventional grinding methods, wheel selection, and dressing.
  • Excellent blueprint reading skills, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Reliable attendance and a steadfast commitment to quality and safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical/trade school certification is a plus.
